We're sure you're wondering more about the Alta electric bike we teased on day one. Here's a few details on their upcoming Redshift model. It's been designed to be more than just a novelty, but to actually be competitive with a 250 four-stroke motocross bike. Weighing in at about 250lbs and with a reported power figure of about 40hp, it's been designed to handle a minimum of a 30 min plus 2 lap moto with a top pro onboard, and go much farther on a charge when play riding. This is much needed, considering the creators are quite hopeful that they'll have one of these bikes lining up in the professional scene within the next few years.

Pictured here is a prototype unit they've been putting through its paces with the help of Kris Keefer. The main numbers for geometry and rider position of this bike were taken from a Honda 450. Beyond that, you'll spy full-size WP 4CS forks and shock, just as on a KTM, along with Brembo brakes.

How soon will we see them? They estimated to have models ready for purchase by the second quarter of next year, with pricing to come in at a bit under $15,000. Also, we should have our hands on a model to test by the end of the first quarter.
